Day 148 - 3/6/19

Today is my husband and my 9th wedding anniversary. We normally go out and have a fancy dinner to celebrate, but we were skeptical about doing that this year because of my taste buds not being back yet. At the last minute, we decided to go ahead and keep the custom going.

We normally have a GREAT steak, but because I wasn’t sure if I’d be able to enjoy it, I asked him to find a really good seafood restaurant. Over the last few weeks I have had a little luck tasting seafood. I hated to deviate from our "steak" routine, but I also didn't want to waste money on something I would probably not be able to taste. Him, being true to his character, did find an amazing seafood restaurant.

During dinner, we reminisced about the how rocky our relationship was in the beginning, as we always do. We laughed at how much we’ve both grown up in our thinking and thought processes—as we also always do. But, this year’s celebration is a little different. This new challenge that we’ve faced over the last 5 months… Yeah… It put things into a whole new perspective.

This year, we’re celebrating how close we’ve become through this challenge. This year, we’re celebrating the fight and victories of just living life. This year we are appreciating each other and our love—like never before. This year has taught us how much we REALLY love each other.

We are ever so grateful that God has been a part of our union and kept us together. This anniversary, we now understand what real marriage is about—" for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death do us part,…”

We're looking forward to the many more years we'll be celebrating together... But this year, we've learned just how precious love and life really is. We've learned how much we appreciate each other. We've learned what faith in God will do.

"Above all, have fervent and unfailing love for one another, because love covers a multitude of sins [it overlooks unkindness and unselfishly seeks the best for others]." 1 Peter 4: 8 (AMP)
